Our professional team are a dedicated and highly experienced group of local Territorians, comprising of experts in conflict resolution, psychology, communication, social welfare, personal safety and security.

Our team possesses a remarkable array of skills that uniquely position us as highly skilled contributors to program development. With a diverse mix of expertise, we form a cohesive unit capable of tackling multifaceted challenges.   • Sharon has been developing and delivering training programs to women, corporate, community, seniors and youth in the NT for over a 30 year period.

    From 1995 to 2020, Sharon owned and operated one of the most successful martial arts organisations in the NT. The full-time studio encompassed not only martial arts, but also a range of personal safety, fitness, yoga and wellbeing programs.

    Since 2020, Sharon has focused on developing Personal Protection Strategies further, to accommodate community needs. Over the past 3 years, she has travelled extensively throughout the Territory, in partnership with Victims of Crime NT and Neighbourhood Watch NT. In this collaboration alone, she has delivered over 40 Personal Safety sessions.

    One of Sharon’s greatest passions is the work she does with women who have been affected by domestic and family violence. She has delivered hundreds of session throughout the years and continues to make this work a priority for Personal Protection Strategies.

    As a 6th Dan martial artist, along with the extensive experience in delivering training, she is well equipped to guide any group through our De-escalation and Personal Safety training.

    Sharon also holds Cert II Security License.

    Prior to her martial arts career, Sharon worked in different parts of Australia in the hospitality industry.

  • Andy has extensive history in the hospitality industry which started in Fremantle WA in the late 1980’s. He worked his way from a humble barman to being a part owner in some of the more prominent nightclub venues in both Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

    Andy’s experience has extended to every sector of hospitality, including managing security teams, and being on the ground, frontline, when things go wrong, for the past 25 years. He has had to implement a wide range of de-escalation strategies in this time, and his experience is invaluable to draw on for our frontline participants.

    Andy is part of PPS project development team and co-facilitates in the De-escalation and Effective Communication Training Models.

    Andy is the Business Development Manager for Neptune Holdings and is responsible for the development of the Public Order Response Unit. This is a specialist unit providing much needed to support, on the frontline, helping maintain social order and keeping our community safe.

    Some of Andy’s qualifications include Cert II and Cert III Security License.

  • Serena is a respected Elder, community leader and youth mentor in Palmerston, Northern Territory. She was born in Darwin and has lived in Palmerston for 22 years. Her Father’s mother’s country is Dalabon (Beswick and Barunga) and her father’s Country is Gurindji.

    In 2017, Serena founded the Grassroots Action Palmerston (GAP) community advocacy group, responding to the need she saw for a collaborative and constructive response to youth crime and the associated disadvantage and division in Palmerston community. Grassroots Action Palmerston has now evolved into Grassroots Youth Engagement, which aims to support and create opportunities for the young people who need it most.

    Serena works with the young people facing the toughest circumstances and who are too often excluded or disengaged from mainstream supports and opportunities. She is a tireless mentor, advocate and ultimately lifeline for these young people, working to make sure their voices are heard: by politicians, bureaucrats and the local community.

    Serena has initiated and is a key driver and collaborator on many projects, networks, boards and committees in Palmerston that aim to improve the wellbeing of all people, young and old, in the Palmerston community.

    On top of all this, Serena is a proud mum to 10 children of her own.

    In 2020, she was awarded the FitzGerald Award for Justice in the Northern Territory Human Rights Awards.

  • Margi combines her diverse and extensive background in mental health, values-led change management, quality systems, evaluation, work health and safety, auditing, accreditation, and professional development and training, with excellent interpersonal skills and cross-cultural collaboration practices.

    With over 15 years of experience working with First Nations peoples in the Northern Territory, Margi prioritises cultural competence in her work and maintains her focus on cultural and psychosocial safety.

    Specialties: Psychosocial health and safety, change management, monitoring, evaluation, learning and planning (MELP) systems, strategic planning and governance, neurodiversity, coaching, mentoring, safety leadership, values enactment, adult education and training, counselling, alcohol and other drugs work, diversity, equity and inclusion, suicide prevention and intervention, mental health, staff career planning and development, accredited facilitator of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), safeTALK, suicideTALK, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA). Co-developer of the Family Coping Toolkit training. Ahpra Registered Psychologist.

  • Danielle Taylor is a social worker who has lived and worked in the NT community for over 25 years. She also holds a graduate diploma in Community Mental Health Science.

    Her interest is in innovative, trauma informed and healing centred approaches to service provision, and in ensuring that those attending such programs feel safe and supported.

    She brings extensive counselling experience with both adults and young people as well as project design and development, to her work with PPS.

    Danielle contributes to the development of PPS programs to further support the development of content that is trauma informed, evidenced based and culturally sensitive.

    She also provides support to participants in workshops where appropriate.

  • Stacey has been training in martial arts for the past 19 years, holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt and is one of the Senior Instructors at NT Tang Soo Do Karate.

    She has attained her Bachelor of Social Work and currently works on the frontline in mental health. Stacey works with complex presentations that include trauma, depression and anxiety. Her role is currently in counselling and case management.

    Stacey has played an integral role in the development of our Mandatory Reporting training model and has delivered this training to different teams of sports and fitness instructors.

    She not only provides her expertise as a martial artist, she also provides important emotional support in in our Women’s Personal Safety training.
